Important Information Regarding New, Renewal, and Reinstatement Applications 07/05/2024

If you sent an application to Provider Connections since mid-May and have not received an email to authorize DCFS to conduct the Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System Background Check, please check your spam or junk mail folder. We have several providers with 5/21/24 authorization dates from Provider Connections who have taken action to authorize the background checks. We send weekly reminders to those who have not taken action. It is extremely important to authorize the process so your background check will be done in a timely manner. You and Provider Connections get the same email with the completed .pdf. Please keep in mind that we have many CANTS being processed at once. This is not an immediate turn-around. Please do not call us regarding the completion of the CANTS.

New DCFS Background Check Process Effective Immediately

We have been given the opportunity to transition to the new DCFS background check portal starting immediately. When processing these background checks we would send them via email and now we will enter all the information electronically into their system. Once we enter this information, you will receive an email from DCFS asking for you to authorize Provider Connections to receive this information. This email will have instructions to follow on how to process this permission. Also please make sure that we have the best email for you as this will be how you receive this information from DCFS.

This portal will help us get these background checks processed quicker so make sure that grant the authorization promptly.


**If you have sent in an application that included a background check recently in the past couple weeks, please make sure that you have returned any email from DCFS.
